The sport of greyhound racing began in 1926, in Belle Vue, Manchester and
quickly spread throughout the rest of the British Isles. Greyhound racing
was traditionally the reserve of the aristocracy, and for many years it
was actually illegal for peasants to own a greyhound such was the reverence
that they weld held in. Whilst the popularity of greyhound racing did see
a decline during the 1960’s and 70’s it has seen a real resurgence
during the past decade.

A night at the dogs is now a very popular pastime, with the tracks offering

night out. The excitement of watching these athletic animals racing can
